Community Conversations: The Push for Criminal Justice Reform

Today marks one year since Cyntoia Brown-Long was released from prison after her sentence was commuted by the governor of Tennessee, in a case that garnered national attention. She was sentenced to life in prison for murdering a man in 2004. A victim of sex trafficking, she says she feared for her life during an encounter with a 43-year-old man who paid to have sex with her when she was 16 and that his murder was self-defense. NBC 5’s Laura Harris talked with Brown-Long about what others can learn from her case and her push for criminal justice reform.
