You've no doubt heard about Amy Poelher's new show, "Parks and Recreation," which is premiering Thursday at 7:30 central. (P.S. The Office starts at 7:00 p.m. tonight, then Parks, then another new Office, then a new 30 Rock, then the premiere of Southland. Get it? Got it? Good.)
But how much fun will it be to see "Parks and Recreation" with Grand Prairie's actual Parks and Recreation department? They're starting the party at 5:00 p.m. at the Uptown Theater on Main Street, Grand Prairie, with door prizes, games, and food and beverages. Everyone gets to see the premiere on the big screen of the theater for FREE.
The one caveat is that you need to RSVP for the event with Mae Smith at 972-237-8107 or by email at fmsmith@gptx.org.
We're sure our corporate overlords will be pleased we have promoted their new show, but, frankly, this is too clever of an idea to pass up.

GRAND PRAIRIE – The City of Grand Prairie Parks and Recreation Department will host a free Premiere Watch Party on April 9th for NBC’s exciting new comedy, “Parks and Recreation”, from the creators of the hit show “The Office”.
The party will be held at the Uptown Theater, 120 E. Main Street, starting at 5:00 P.M. Attendants will watch the show on the big screen at this historic 402-seat theater, which just received a $5 million renovation in 2008. Prior to the show beginning at 7:30 P.M., attendants will have the opportunity to win door prizes and participate in games and other fun activities. In addition, food and beverages will be available for purchase.
