Opal Lee walks 2.5 miles in ‘Opal's Walk for Freedom' at Fair Park

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, thousands joined Opal Lee to celebrate Juneteenth with Opal’s Walk for Freedom in Dallas and other cities across the country. The local 2.5-mile walk started and ended at the African American Museum, Dallas in Fair Park. At the end of the walk, Lee had a message for the young people in attendance, “Make yourself a committee of One.”
