Texas is pledging $1.28 million in incentives to sweeten a deal to bring a Hulu operations center to the San Antonio.Gov. Greg Abbott announced the cash grant Thursday morning for the streaming TV giant's new viewer experience operations headquarters. Abbott said Hulu LLC will add "hundreds of new jobs to the area with millions in capital investment."The San Antonio Express-News reported that Hulu plans to hire 300 workers starting this fall and 500 by 2018. It quoted city economic development leaders as saying most of those hired will be millennials, with 70 percent of the jobs paying more than $50,000 a year. Hulu is considering two locations for the 45,000-square-foot headquarters, the Express-News reported. The California company expects to spend $5 million on the renovation.Online TV services like Hulu are increasingly popular with millennials and other cord-cutters who prefer to watch television when its fits best into their schedules and on multiple devices. Major players ranging from Dallas-based AT&T to YouTube have announced or launched streaming packages to appeal to these viewers.Abbott said Hulu's Texas operations center will process technology and service requests for its subsscribers.
