There is an excellent reason why Republicans failed Friday to keep their promise to repeal the Affordable Care Act and replace it with something better. Obamacare, it turns out, has never been nearly as bad as its critics have made it out to be. This newspaper has long noted its imperfections. It needs fixes. It costs taxpayers too much, in part because overall costs of medical care continue to rise so quickly. Too many Americans still lack insurance.
