New TSA Boss Says Better Screening Process, Tech to Speed Up Airport Security Lines

The new top boss at the federal agency that manages security at airports was at DFW International Airport Wednesday, one of several stops he’s making around the country to introduce himself to his new colleagues.David Pekoske, took over as the head of the Transportation Security Administration last month as the agency deals with complex new international security threats while working to implement new technologies to speed up lines and improve screening across the nearly 450 U.S. airports.Pekoske’s pit stop at the DFW Airport -- the fourth-largest U.S airport by passenger volume -- included two town halls with employees, as well as visits to a number of security checkpoints.“Every time I visit a checkpoint I learn a little bit more about what the processes are that we use,” said Pekoske, whose background includes a long career at the Coast Guard that culminated in him serving as the organization’s second-in-command. “It’s really an opportunity for me as the new guy to introduce myself...and talk to them about the priorities I have for the TSA.”  Continue reading...
