Mansfield Student Severely Injured When Classmate Stabs Her With Scissors

A Mansfield middle-school student was hospitalized with severe injuries Monday after another student stabbed her with scissors.The altercation took place in the Worley Middle School cafeteria during dismissal time, Mansfield ISD said in a statement, and the victim was rushed to a hospital.Relatives of the victim told KDFW-TV (Channel 4) that the 13-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries when the scissors struck an artery in her face. She remained in an intensive-care unit Tuesday, but no further details about her condition were available.The student accused of attacking her, whom the victim's relatives said is a 15-year-old boy, faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the district said.School officials and district police are investigating the incident."Incidents of this nature are taken very seriously," the district said in a statement.
