Frisco's Pat Fallon Poised to Challenge Wichita Falls' Craig Estes in Bruising GOP Senate Primary

AUSTIN--In what could be an expensive and brutal campaign, Frisco lawmaker Pat Fallon is poised to challenge longtime incumbent Craig Estes in next year's Republican primary for Texas Senate."I'm heavily leaning toward doing it," Fallon told The Dallas Morning News. "If we were to run and win this, it will be different for the district than it is right now. I will be in every county and represent every corner of the district."Fallon, who has represented House District 106 since 2013, will have to give up that seat to challenge Estes.It appears he's doing just that. The businessman had loaned his campaign $1.8 million and raised another $200,000. That's significantly more than he would need to run for re-election to the Texas House, and indicates he's looking at an opportunity to oust Estes and move into the Senate.He said the campaign became a reality after he visited with constituents in the Senate district who complained that Estes was aloof and inaccessible."We all say down here that we care, but you have to be demonstrative in that commitment," Fallon said. "This Senate district has 14 counties and nearly one million people and they just don't see him, and it's been 16 years and that's something that really bothers me."  Continue reading...
