Former Garland Golf Course Sells for New Residential Development

A former Garland golf course was purchased for a new residential community.Plano-based My Possibilities acquired the 178-acre Eastern Hills Country Club at 3000 S. Country Club Road.The new owner plans to build a residential project for adults with cognitive disabilities.The low-density development is incorporate large sections of green space."My Possibilities has created a revolutionary approach to overall community-building, and to caring for underserved individuals and families who have historically lacked quality and safe places to live," Mary Neilon with CBRE Land Services Group, said in a statement. "The local community has been supportive and forward-thinking, and this area of Garland will now see some of the first new homes delivered in decades."Eastern Hills Country Club closed in 2014 and was sold out of bankruptcy to a local investor. My Possibilities bought the site in a deal brokered by CBRE's Neilon and Seth Kelly. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.The development plan is to create a neighborhood of 300 homes -- a third of which would go to My Possibilities' clients who have special housing needs clients.My Possibilities will own about 100 of the new homes.
