Dallas Fire-Rescue is investigating whether a small fire that damaged a church in Pleasant Grove was set on purpose early Friday.Firefighters were called to Faith Kingdom Church on Lake June Road shortly after midnight by a 911 caller who reported smoke coming from the rear of the building. When firefighters arrived, a small fire was visible.They contained the fire to a rear doorway and had it extinguished within 30 minutes, fire spokesman Jason Evans said. The fire did not cause extensive damage, and no injuries were reported. The official cause remains under investigation, but a church member said it may have been started accidentally by people trying to keep warm in the subfreezing temperatures.Johnny Mumphrey, a 20-year member of the congregation, said his daughter heard that investigators initially believed homeless people may have accidentally started the fire.Mumphrey was at the church Friday morning to meet an insurance adjuster and secure the entrance that was damaged."I was just here to seal up the building a little more," Mumphrey said.
