Military service has been a family affair. My twin brother Bernie and I enlisted in the Army in 1972. He became a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne and I became a helicopter pilot. Years later, two of his three sons also served. Combined total service of nearly 40 years. Here is a photo of the four of us. Top left to right: Frank (me) and on the right my twin Bernie. Bottom left to right: Erik and Jon.Sincerely Frank Eisenstaedt ( CW4, USA RET)

We, the 5 sisters of SGT5 Travis Eugene Mitchell, Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, would like you to please recognize our big brother. Travis serve our country with distinction. He earned service medals, combat infantry medals and he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Travis’ four sons also served our country, Travis Eugene Mitchell II, (Marines, Desert Storm), Dexter Mitchell (Navy), Marcus Mitchell (Army Reserve), and Byron Mitchell (Army). Travis is the last surviving brother to take care of his 5 sisters. We lost our baby brother, E-7 MSGT Melvin O. Mitchell (Air Force) in 2016 and another beloved brother Kenneth Mitchell in 2020. Their deaths hit all of us hard , but especially Travis. They were truly the Three Musketeers. Our late parents, Ollie Ray and Bobbie D. Mitchell taught us to always stay close and take care of each other. And Travis has always taken that role seriously since we were kids. Even today, when we call him, he says, “What’s up, babygirl?” Travis is retired for the U.S. Post Office and stills works at the age of 74. He will be 75 on November 20th. We love our big brother and truly believe he deserves to be recognized. Thank you. Cheryl Rose, Joycelyn Franklin, Patricia Hall, Diedra Moffitt and Kimberly Siurek
