Valerie Guyton, the Assistant News Director for NBC 5, has more than 25 years of experience in television news. She joined KXAS in March 2019.
Valerie is a North Texas native, having grown up in Dallas. Her parents and extended family still live in the area.
Valerie is an advocate for storytelling, innovation and creativity in creating content for the multiple platforms at NBC 5. She developed the Conversations: Call for Change franchise and serves on NBC Universal’s Diversity Council as well as championing Comcast Universal’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion efforts.
She came to NBC 5 from WXIA in Atlanta where she was an Executive Producer, prior to that she was the Assistant News Director at KENS in San Antonio. Valerie was also a member of the TEGNA Innovation Team during her time with the company. In addition, Valerie has extensive experience at CNN and spent time as a producer at the Weather Channel.
Valerie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio/TV/Film, both from the University of Houston.
Valerie is happy to be back home in North Texas with her husband and young son.
