Hiring may have been disrupted by Hurricane Beryl, which slammed the Texas economy last month.

A gradual slowdown in the economy and Hurricane Beryl are expected to have taken some of the steam out of hiring in July.

More than a week after Hurricane Beryl made its way through the Texas coast, firefighters from North Texas continue to provide support to the affected communities.

Last week, X user @BBQBryan posted: “The Whataburger app works as a power outage tracker, handy since the electric company doesn’t show a map.” The tweet received more than 7 million views and 24,000 likes by the next afternoon, according to USA Today.

With around 350,000 homes and businesses still without power in the Houston area almost a week after Hurricane Beryl hit Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott says he’s demanding an investigation into the response of the utility that serves the Houston area.
