Cristal Taylor, speaking by phone from the Beaumont jail, told Dallas Morning News’ Brad Townsend that she was, in fact, pregnant, and that she was, in fact, engaged to Dirk Nowitzki.
Taylor, who was arrested on May 6 in Nowitzki's home, broke into tears several times during the interview, in which she spoke to Townsend, and her mother Shirley, who arranged the call from her home in St. Louis, in a three-way call.
Nowitzki, according to Taylor, has not spoken to her since her arrest.
"Not only that, but they [the Mavericks] pretty much told him, after you guys put out all that crap on me, to just wash his hands of me -- and I think he pretty much did," she said.

Taylor said that she was administered a pregnancy test not once, but twice, when she initially arrived at the Dallas County Jail; both, she says, came back positive.
"Well, they always give you a test," she told Townsend. "They give you a urine test when you walk in and they give you a T.B. test. And the lady was like, 'Oh, so when are you due?'
“I was like, 'I don't know when the court date is due.' She was like, 'Uh, no, you're pregnant.’”
Taylor said that she has known Nowitzki for seven years, and that he was hitherto unaware of her seemingly checkered past.
“I've known Dirk for seven years – and, no, I didn't tell him everything about my past because I was afraid," Taylor said. "But, I mean, now I'm pregnant and alone and broke because he is my only source of income.”
Taylor is charged with theft of services, stemming from 2004 when she allegedly defrauded a Beaumont dentist out of $10,000 worth of dental work.
