For very obvious reasons, Dallas Stars All-Star center Tyler Seguin says one of the first things he thought of after cutting his Achilles tendon in a victory over the Lighting a week ago was a scene from a horror movie.
Specifically, Seguin’s mind shot right to the film Hostel—which contains a scene in which a man’s Achilles is cut.
So, we get why Seguin would suddenly be reminded of that scene.
“… I know not much time is left but I'm also wondering in my head, 'Is my foot cut open right now?' There's a horror movie called 'Hostel,' I don't know if any of you guys have seen it, in the movie the bad guy goes and slices the guy's Achilles. That popped into my head in my last shift while I was skating out there,” Seguin said, per the Dallas Morning News. “I’m wondering if my Achilles is sliced like that.
“My mind was going through a lot. I don't exactly remember if I blocked a shot there or not. I knew there wasn't much time left in the game. I was kind of just trying to hobble around till it was over.”
We’ve never seen Hostel, so the injury made us think of Murder in the First, another film with a gross Achilles-cutting scene.
Seguin was given a timetable of 3-4 weeks and will likely miss the rest of the regular season, but has said he can’t picture himself missing any playoff games.
