A college football champion will be crowned this weekend -- without any chants of "Geaux Tigers" or "Roll Tide."
The NCAA Division I Football Championship game pits North Dakota State's Bison against Sam Houston State's Bearkats in Frisco's Pizza Hut on Saturday.
Unlike the major college ranks, which are still debating whether a Alabama deserves a second shot at LSU, the Bison and Bearkats have earned their title shot the old-fashioned way -- through a playoff.
Frisco is already a winner. The game is a sellout, and the residual impact of tourism, national TV exposure and social media equals a multimillion-dollar bonanza for one of the fastest-growing cities in North Texas.
The game kicks off at noon on Saturday, and while there may not be as much NFL talent on the field, there will be great football -- and a champion decided by the play on the field and, hopefully, nothing else.
