Virgin America is poised to win two highly-contested gates at Dallas Love Field, according to an airline source.
The announcement is expected on Friday at Dallas City Hall.
Delta Air Lines and Dallas-based Southwest Airlines also fought for the gates.
American Airlines, which was forced to give up the gates after its merger with US Airways, already had agreed to lease the gates to Virgin America.
The U.S. Justice Department also supported Virgin America’s bid, arguing that Southwest already largely controls flights at Love Field, and giving them the gates would lessen competition.
Virgin America announced last week it would get the gates, but Dallas city leaders said the announcement was premature because they had not yet decided which airline should get the prize.
