A Dallas police officer was not injured when his patrol cruiser erupted in flames Thursday afternoon.[[434372843,R]]
The officer, whose identity has not been released, was working off-duty in a neighborhood patrol assignment when the fire began in the vehicle's trunk, according to a police department statement.
Video captured by NBC 5 viewer Jason Wagner shows flames engulfing the officer's vehicle in the area of Meandering Way and Brentfield Drive near Campbell Road in Far North Dallas.
Dallas Fire-Rescue crews extinguished the fire, but the vehicle appears to be a total loss.
There is still no word on what caused the fire.
