Santa is very busy on Christmas morning, so to help him out mail carriers with the United States Postal Service were up early to deliver packages Thursday.
USPS mail carriers in Fort Worth were sorting packages by 7 a.m. that needed to be delivered across the area, and most said they did not mind coming to work on Christmas.
“They enjoy it really because they know they are getting it to families who are really waiting for a special package,” said USPS customer relations coordinator Kelly Pinto. “Up to today we have delivered everything we had, so whatever we have today has to be delivered.”
The USPS has already delivered more than 23 million packages in December, and it had been several years since the USPS started to deliver on Christmas.
“We have about 14 carriers out today delivering packages specifically for Christmas Day today,” said Pinto.
Some mail carriers decided to make their job a little bit more fun on Christmas. USPS mail carrier Doyle Langston dressed up as Santa to deliver packages on his route.
“I am helping Santa out today,” said Langston. “He had a lot more good people here in Fort Worth than normally, so we have an abundance of packages.”

This was Langston’s first time to dress up as Santa, and he said it would make working on Christmas a little bit more fun.
“I don’t know if it is easier, but it brings joy,” said Langston. “People are happier to see you.”
The USPS also started to deliver on Sunday for the first time this holiday season.
