A North Texas grandmother and another family member were arrested after leaving a 3-year-old child alone in a car.
Police say Cynthia Williams and the child's cousin, Tracy Whetstone, went into a TJ Maxx on Preston Road in Plano to make a return, then they went to a nearby McDonald's to grab a bite to eat.
Williams told police she had given her grandchild medicine for congestion and he should have been "knocked out," but employees found the child wandering around the busy parking lot and called police.
The child is safe.
Williams and Whetstone face child abandonment charges.
