The eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 have reopened following a triple-fatal crash Monday morning, according to the Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management. [[398201211,C]]
Kaufman's OEM tweeted about the crash at 10:21 a.m., saying three people were killed in the crash near Wilson Road and I-20, between mile marker 501 and 503.
Terrell police said 55-year-old Lewis Rogers of Monroe, Louisiana was driving a red pickup truck that was pulling a trailer when a tire blew out on the truck.
That caused Rogers to lose control, leave the roadway and roll over into oncoming traffic, police said.
As the truck came to rest in the oncoming eastbound lane of traffic, it was struck by a white Chevrolet pickup driven by 68-year-old Jerry Crawford of Princeton.
Rogers, as well as the passenger in his truck, 54-year-old Jerry Thomas and Crawford were killed in the collision.
The eastbound lanes remained closed until 2:30 Monday afternoon.
