Arlington police are investigating a collision between a passenger train and 18-wheeler carrying grass pallets.
Amtrak train No. 21 collided with the truck's cab in the 4000 block of Division Street on the driveway to the Howell Farms banquet center at about 5 p.m.
Arlington police spokeswoman Zhivonni McDonnell told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the locomotive tore the tractor from the trailer and dragged it 300 feet down the Union Pacific track. Footage from Chopper 5 showed the train stopped on the tracks and a flatbed trailer.
The driver, who was the only person in the truck, was airlifted a Fort Worth hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Amtrak said the locomotive engineer and one of the approximately 140 passengers on board the San Antonio-bound train were taken to local hospitals for evaluation.
The Texas Eagle train dropped off the passengers at 8 p.m. in Fort Worth, where they boarded buses to continue to their final destination, Amtrak said.
