A man suspected in a home invasion rape near Bachman Lake confessed to five aggravated sexual assaults during an interview with detectives Thursday night, Dallas police say.
Investigators said Thursday they'd arrested a suspect in an in-home assault that took place July 18 at a residence on the 2900 block of Kendale Drive. Though they announced the arrest, police believed the man may have been involved in a number of other attacks and withheld his name as to not compromise the ongoing investigation.
Friday afternoon Dallas police identified the man as 23-year-old Sean Padilla.
Police added that while speaking with detectives about the attack on Kendale Drive, Padilla admitted to four other attacks on women, four in Dallas and one in Garland, that all took place between April 4 and July 18.
- April 4, 2017 - 13700 Maham Road
- May 2, 2017 - 7000 Holly Hill Drive
- May, 30, 2017 - 100 S. Jupiter Road, Garland
- June 26, 2017 - 8600 Lazy Acres
- July 18, 2017 - 2900 Kendale Drive
In the most recent attack, investigators said a man approached a woman and her children as she was opening the door to her home. The man followed the woman and her children inside, assaulted the woman and then robbed her.
Police said at some point during the assault a witness knocked on the woman's door and the man answered. The witness left after asking for the woman and being told she was not there. A short time later, the man fled from the home with some of the victim's property and was spotted by the same person who had knocked on the door, police said.
Padilla was taken into custody at about 9:40 p.m. Thursday and is currently being held in the Dallas County Jail on $500,000 bond, $100,000 per charge.
These investigations are still ongoing and detectives are still actively working on the cases. Police have not listed an attorney of record for Padilla.
