Texas Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish is coming off the worst start of his MLB career and he might have found the reason for his struggles on Twitter.
Last Wednesday, in what might have been his last start with the Rangers, Darvish gave up 10 runs on two walks and nine hits — including two home runs — in 3⅔ innings pitched.
Three days later, Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan tweeted that a Marlins official told him Darvish was pausing slightly before throwing his fastball.
An hour after Passan's tweet, Darvish thanks Passan for passing the information along.
Darvish told MLB.com's Sam Butler he wouldn't have known he was tipping his pitches if not for Passan's tweet, as the subtleties are often hard to find.
"I didn't know if I was tipping or not" he told MLB.com. "I watched the video, and when I would throw a fastball, I paused. And then breaking ball was faster [in my delivery]."
