The massive $3.2 billion Legacy West development in Plano had its official grand opening Friday.
The 255-acre plot of land is along Legacy Drive at the southwest corner of the Dallas North Tollway and the Sam Rayburn Tollway.
Legacy West is home to the new North American headquarters of Toyota and FedEx Office, as well as new regional headquarters of JP Morgan Chase and Liberty Mutual. Those corporate giants brought more than 20,000 jobs to Legacy West.
In addition to the corporate campuses, Legacy West also features a mixture of retail shopping, restaurants, apartments and hotels. Familiar names like Shake Shack, Sprinkles and Tesla dot Windrose Avenue, which cuts through the heart of the development.
On the floors above the street-level stores there are more than 1,200 apartments in Legacy West, in addition to 127 urban villas.
There is an official ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, which will feature Plano Mayor Harry LaRossiliere and other local dignitaries.
