Plano Parents Unhappy with Proposed School Rezoning

Some parents in Plano are unhappy about a proposal to rezone schools in the Plano Independent School District.

Plano ISD is considering rezoning an area north of the President George Bush Turnpike and Custer Road. Another area being considered is northwest of the intersection of Spring Creek Parkway and Preston Road.

Frances Salina recently moved to be closer to her son's school, Brinker Elementary. If the district approves the plan on the table, her son, along with 108 other students would be moved to Haun Elementary.

"I was a little frustrated, because, like I said, had we not moved we would've been safe," Salina said.
If approved, the district says the changes would impact 215 students.

The Plano school board trustees will vote on the proposal Tuesday, March 1.

The changes would take effect next year.
