One person was killed when a DART train and a vehicle collided in Fair Park on Saturday morning, Dallas Fire-Rescue says.
DART'S media representative, Morgan Lyons, said the driver of the car was traveling northbound on 2nd Avenue at Scyene Road.
According to Lyons the driver may have ignored the warning lights and bells that sound when the railroad crossing arms come down.
The driver tried to make it across the railroad tracks but was unsuccessful and instead ended up crashing into the train, said Lyons. When rescue units got to the crash they found the driver dead at the scene, said Dallas Fire-Rescue.
The train had a total of 24 passengers on board who were all checked out by paramedics. Nobody had to be transported to a hospital and only four claimed to have suffered injuries, said Lyons.
