Death of Dallas Mother Ruled Suicide

Woman, two children found shot to death in North Dallas home

Authorities say a woman found shot to death with her two young children this month in a bizarre case committed suicide.

The Dallas County medical examiner said Tuesday that Jeanmarie Geis killed herself in her upscale Dallas home Dec. 19.

Her 8-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter were found shot in the head in the house. The children's deaths were earlier ruled homicides.

The Park Cities People reported Tuesday that a gun found by police in the Geis' house on the day before the bodies were found had been bought as protection against attackers.

Police said they believe the gun may have been used in the shooting deaths. The medical examiner has not yet determined if the gun was fired or who may have fired it.

Geis, the 49-year-old daughter of a late Dallas judge, had told police she was being pursued by men in ski masks and had been subjected to violent attacks and threats of rape.

She reported three attacks, including one in which she claimed two armed men in ski masks broke into her home and attacked her husband, Frank Geis.

He suffered a severe head injury in this reported incident and was having stiches removed at a doctor's office when his wife and children were found dead in their home.

Police have said some parts of Jeanmarie Geis' story seemed inconsistent, and questions have been raised about claims made to a boyfriend about the status of her marriage.

Eric Hansen admitted to having a "relationship" with her. He said she had claimed the marriage was dissolving.

Frank Geis has denied the couple was divorcing.
