Investigators have a person of interest in custody after a husband and wife, both 69 years old, were shot during a robbery inside a west Fort Worth home Tuesday.[[417335023,C]]
Officers told NBC 5 the couple was shot shortly before noon in the 10200 block of Cool Spring Drive in what appears to be a random home invasion.
The husband's condition was described as extremely critical. The wife's condition was not immediately available.
Officers say the person who shot the couple also stole their 2008 blue Kia Sorento, along with several other things from the home, including their credit card.
Officers took a person of interest into custody at a home in Terrell Tuesday evening. Police later found the couple's car at a Terrell apartment complex.

Police say the man was arrested on another charge, possibly an outstanding warrant. But investigators have been able to tie him to the home invasion. A separate car found in West Fort Worth was a key piece in the puzzle.
An undercover officer found it while running license plate numbers near the home invasion scene. It has paper plates and appears to have been abandoned a half mile from that scene with a flat tire.
It's a relief to both police and worried neighbors to have someone in custody.
"Anytime you have a home invasion, it's disturbing," said Fort Worth police Sgt. Marc Povero. "This is what we would consider a random crime which makes it even more disturbing. There's just no sense to a crime like this."
The identities of the victims have not been official released, but their neighbors and landlord tell us they are John and Diane Porter and that they are "friendly," "great" people.
"You just think these things happen at night," said neighbor Rachel Pizana. "In the middle of the day someone comes into your house and shoots both of them. And I'm right across the streets while it's happening. And it's just terrifying."
