One man was killed and five others were injured in a string of crashes on Southeast Loop 820 near Anglin Drive in Forest Hill Tuesday morning.
Forest Hill police said 31-year-old Jeffery Rozas was killed after he was ejected from his car and run over by another vehicle.
Investigators said Rozas lost control of his vehicle on ice that covered the stretch of roadway and then hit the guardrail. A second vehicle hit Rozas' vehicle and ejected him. A third vehicle then ran over Rozas, killing him.
"It's unfortunate anytime anything like this happens," said Capt. Jerry Cozby, of the Forest Hill Police Department. "That's why we want people to slow down. They have to understand the ice — they will lose control even traveling at normal speeds. They need to reduce their speeds before they hit the overpasses."
Five other people were injured in the crash. One patient was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth while another was transported to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. Three were treated at the scene and not transported.
While covering the crash, NBC 5's Kendra Lyn witnessed several other drivers lose control of their vehicles along the same stretch of road. Video of those drivers can be seen on the left or by following this link.
In all, four people have died on North Texas roadways since Monday afternoon.
