The man was crossing into traffic in the 2800 block of East Ledbetter Drive when a woman driving a Mercedes struck him at 11:21 p.m., according to Dallas police.
"We heard the wheels screech," witness Marquis Skinner said. "Then we saw him. He probably flew 10, 15 feet."
The man was transported to a hospital in critical condition, police said. He was later pronounced dead.
"You could tell it wasn't intentional," Skinner said. "[The driver] hopped out of the car, she was scared. She was saying, 'I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to do it.'"
Police said the driver was taken to hospital for a laceration. She does not face any charges.
