Authorities say a wildfire near Possum King Lake is significantly smaller than originally thought.
The Texas A&M Forest Service on Tuesday said the fire covers 39 acres -- not 130 acres as originally estimated. Forest Service spokesman Nick Harrison said rugged terrain made it difficult to initially determine its size.
The fire was 70 percent contained as of Tuesday evening. Fire crews are monitoring and patrolling for hot spots.
Firefighters said they hoped to have 100 percent containment by the end of the night.
About 30 residences have been evacuated since the wildfire began Monday. No injuries have been reported and no structures have been destroyed.
The area about 75 miles west of Fort Worth was the scene of massive fires that destroyed dozens of homes in 2011 during a drought.
