Frisco Independent School District board members and administrators are revising rezoning plans after a workshop Tuesday night with about two dozen parents.
The parents had been upset because they don't want their kids to transfer schools next year. It's an issue that comes up year after year because of unprecedented growth in the area.
Parents in the Cascades neighborhood said they've been rezoned four times. This year's original rezoning plans would make it five times. Students would be transferred from Comstock Elementary School to Ashley Elementary School – a move parents said would divide the school zone and the community.
The parents voiced concerns during the past couple months and even submitted a plan to the board.
Administrators on Tuesday introduced a revised plan to let the kids stay put next year.
"I was expecting the worst. But thank goodness they listened to parent input and they went out of their way and started looking at alternative ways to make everyone happy, at least for now," said parent Jessica Lopez-Nielsen.
The revised plans aren't set in stone yet. The board will vote on them Dec. 14.
