Frisco Doctor Suspended Over ‘Continuing Threat' After Drug Arrest, High Number of Opioid Prescriptions

A Frisco physician who prescribed large amounts of opioids had his medical license temporarily suspended after a disciplinary panel found his work "poses a continuing threat to public welfare."

The panel for the Texas Medical Board voted Sept. 14 to immediately suspend the license for Dr. John Carl Ferrell, 62. The family doctor has been licensed in Texas since 1985, according to records.

Ferrell's attorney declined to comment Tuesday.
