Two people are dead and three more are in the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash in Fort Worth early Monday morning.
Police said the three-car crash took place at about 1:20 a.m. along the northbound lanes of West Loop 820 near White Settlement Road and Clifford Street.
The northbound lanes of the highway were closed for nearly six hours as officials worked at the scene of the crash taking measurements and photographs to try to determine exactly what happened.
Officers said a maroon sedan was pulled over on the shoulder when another car slammed into them. Police believe the passengers were standinig outside of the vehicle when they were hit by a second car.
Fort Worth police said an adult woman and an "infant" child were rushed to the hospital in serious condition. Another child died on scene. Police would not confirm the relationship of the woman and children, but did say they were traveling in the same vehicle.
The male driver of another car also died. The driver of the third car involved in the wreck was rushed to the hospital.
More details were expected to be released by investigators sometime Monday. Traffic unit investigators said they have yet to complete crash reports and have not yet released the identities of the victims.
