Two people are dead after a small plane crashed Friday afternoon in North Texas.
Lawrence Liptack, 51, and his son, 10-year-old Landon Liptack, were killed when the twin-engine Cessna 414 crashed near Bowie at about 3:44 p.m. and caught fire, authorities said.
The plane was on approach to Bowie Municipal Airport when it crashed in a field about one mile north of the airport.
Investigators with the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will inspect the crash site and determine a cause.
The father and son were from the Houston area, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Law enforcement officials had previously told the FAA that three people were killed, but officials now confirm there were two people on board the plane.
