Authorities said a man was driving too fast along the westbound lanes of Interstate 635 toward the Dallas North Tollway when he hit the guardrail, a concrete barrier and then a truck at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The initial crash pushed the concrete barrier into the southbound lanes of the toll road near Spring Valley Road, according to DPS spokesman Lonnie Haschel.
The driver who caused the crash is being investigated for possibly driving while intoxicated, Haschel said.
Officials said the driver of the truck suffered injuries that were not life threatening.
Shortly after, a driver collided with the barrier in the southbound lanes of the toll road and stopped on the ramp to westbound I-635, according to Haschel. Two people suffered injuries that were not life threatening.
Authorities said a third crash happened when another vehicle hit the barrier and crashed into a car. Two more people suffered injuries that were not life threatening.
Other drivers have also stopped after hitting debris.
