The IBM Innovation Center in Coppell has resumed normal operations after being evacuated Tuesday morning due to a suspicious package.
Police were called to the IBM building at 1177 South Belt Line Road at about 8 a.m. after employees found a suspicious black bag at the front of the building.
Inside the bag police found a harmless fiber optic monitoring device. After a final sweep, the building was cleared and workers were allowed to return.
The incident comes after IBM took out full-page advertisements in Texas newspapers apposing the state's proposed legislation that would limit restrooms transgender people can use.
New York-based IBM also planned to send 20 employees, including top executives, to express their opposition to the bill Tuesday at the Texas Capitol, when state lawmakers will reconvene for a special legislative session.
