Arlington police say a boy in a stroller was killed Thursday after he and his father were hit by a truck while standing at a crosswalk.
According to police, the collision took place when the driver of a truck southbound on Cooper Street was struck by a white sedan making a left turn from northbound Cooper Street onto California Lane.
The man and his infant son, identified by friends and family members as 7-month-old David Bingenheimer, were struck by one of the vehicles while waiting to cross the street, police said.
The boy was killed at the scene, his father and the drivers of both vehicles suffered non life-threatening injuries.
"It appears at this time that they were off the road and waiting for their light signal to change to cross through the crosswalk and the vehicle left the road and struck them," said Sgt. Jeffrey Houston, with the Arlington Police Department. "But we are still early in the investigation and we are still confirming a lot of that stuff and who had which light. That is still part of the investigation to come."
Crash investigators have not yet determined who had the right of way and where the father and his son were standing at the time of the crash.

Following the crash, Arlington police tweeted all southbound lanes and two northbound lanes of Cooper Street were closed during the investigation. Southbound traffic was diverted at Colorado Lane. The intersection was reopened around 1:30 p.m.
