Across the field, about 300 yards away from the bodies, was an abandoned car that had crashed into a tree off Dirks Road near Longhorn Park.
“It was against the tree, and the hood was smashed in and the driver’s side door was open,” said Amber Bentley.
Bentley was the first person to notice the car smashed into the tree about 100 yards off the road. She called for help around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

“I was hollering, asking if everybody was OK, hoping that somebody was in there and that they could at least respond,” said Bentley.
But there was no response. At the time, she had no idea there were two lifeless bodies in the same field where she was standing. It was not until 11 a.m. when police found the bodies.

“I cannot comment on why there was a delay between the call that was made and the bodies being found,” said Natosha Tucker with Fort Worth police.
Fort Worth police searched the field by helicopter and on the ground for any additional evidence, but for now they don't know what happened off Dirks Road or when.
“It is unknown if the car is related to the two bodies found in the field,” said Tucker.
The medical examiner is performing an autopsy on the bodies to identify the woman and child who were found in the field and also to determine a cause of death.
