American Airlines says a flight Friday from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to Honolulu was diverted to Los Angeles because of a possible mechanical issue.
Flight 123 departed DFW just before noon and landed safely at LAX a little over two hours later.
The Boeing 767 will be taken out of service so maintenance crews can troubleshoot what happened, according to a statement from an airline spokeswoman.
The 212 passengers on board will be re-accommodated on another flight to Hawaii.
Earlier Friday, an American Airlines flight from DFW to Palm Springs was redirected back to DFW also due to a possible mechanical issue.
Flight 1003 departed at 10:15 a.m. but had to turn around shortly after takeoff.
The MD-82 aircraft landed back at DFW at about 11:20 a.m. and taxied back to the gate without incident.
