The search is underway for the gunman who shot and killed two men at an apartment complex Wednesday morning, Dallas police say.[[321556321,R]]
Police said officers were first called to the Brandon Mill Apartments along the 8000 block of U.S. Highway 67/Marvin D. Love Freeway Service Road at about 4 a.m. after a resident reported hearing gunfire, but officers were directed to the wrong apartment by the caller.
Officers tried to call the caller back, but she had fallen asleep. A subsequent call led them to a different apartment in the same building where the bodies of two men in their 20s were found at about 7 a.m.
Dallas police said drug paraphernalia was found inside the residence and that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident.
"There’s drug paraphernalia found inside the apartment which may indicate that maybe something was going on in there. Remember, we’re very early on in this investigation," said Deputy Chief Rob Sherwin with the Dallas Police Department. "We want to make sure that the public knows that right now it appears that this is an incident that is isolated to this event right now. If we develop any information we will let you guys know."
Investigators said Wednesday morning that the investigation is in the very early stages and police do not yet have any suspects in the slayings.
Dallas police expected to be able to reveal more information in the investigation later in the day.
