A man and a woman have been arrested after authorities seized about $428,000 in cash from a vehicle during a traffic stop in Schulenberg.
The Austin American-Statesman reports that a 28-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both from Mexico, were arrested for felony money laundering and taken to the Fayette County Jail.
Fayette County sheriff's Sgt. Randy Thumann stopped their Honda Odyssey traveling on I-10 near the U.S. 77 intersection around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday for a traffic violation.
Thumann became suspicious of the driver and passenger after the pair had nervous behavior and conflicting stories.
The driver consented to a search of the vehicle. Thumann's K-9 unit partner indicated a scent in the seats.
Officers found 39 bundles of cash concealed in the seats of the vehicle.
