Corsicana police said a man in his 20s was in his vehicle that became stuck in high water near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and 35th Street. The man left his vehicle and was swept away.
Stella Chavez said she worked with the victim â whose identity has not yet been confirmed â for the last two years. She told NBC 5 she still can't believe he's gone.
"He had a girlfriend he met a few months ago," she said. "He said he was in love. He was happy."
Flooding forced authorities to close Interstate 45 in both directions in Navarro County Sunday night. The interstate was reopened Monday morning, but traffic was backed up for miles.
Police also said they are working to clear a several dozen stranded cars across the city.
NBC 5's Josh Ault contributed to this report.
