Adrian Beltre Again Named Rangers Player of the Year

The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America have once again selected Adrian Beltre as the Texas Rangers' Player of the Year.

According to a statement from the team, "it marks the fourth time that Beltre has been selected as the Rangers’ Player of the Year (2012-14), matching Ruben Sierra for the second most such honors all-time behind five each for Juan Gonzalez and Michael Young."

Beltre batted .300 with 32 home runs and 104 RBI in 153 games for Texas in 2016. He tied for 9th in the A.L. in RBI and posted the league’s 12th highest batting average. Beltre also won his 5th Rawlings Gold Glove for defensive excellence at third base while placing 7th in the 2016 BBWAA A.L. MVP voting announced on Thursday, the Rangers said.

Beltre will be presented the award Jan. 20, 2017 at the teams' annual awards dinner.

Other award recipients will be announced in the upcoming weeks, the team said.

Fans who'd like to attend the award dinner can purchase tickets for $100 earch, or an entire table of 10 seats for $1,000. Proceeds benefit the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation.
